ZZ Top and Dwight Yoakam will co-headline the show which will make its way to Iowa’s capital city this spring. The concert is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 7th, 2026 at Des Moines’ Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park. Doors will open at 6:00pm with music starting at 7:00pm and will be a part of the Willis Summer Series. Tickets to the opening night show start at $86 AMAZING VALUE!!!!

This spring 2026 tour will also visit Brookings SD, Grand Island NE, Wichita KS, North Little Rock AR, Fort Wayne IN, Huntington WV and many more cities across the country. Oklahoma boys band Southall gets us in the mood for things to come here with their catchy take on things. 

ZZ Top

Come out and experience one of the biggest legends in rock 'n roll. ZZ Top formed in 1969 and are still touring and rocking the arenas across the globe with some of the greatest blues rocking hits in music. Fans will be able to sing along to many of ZZ Top's famous hits such as "La Grange", "Tush", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Legs" and "Gimme All Your Lovin'".

Known for their hard driving blues rock style the iconic trio consists of guitar virtuoso and lead vocalist Billy Gibbons, bassist and vocalist Dusty Hill and Frank Beard on drums. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, has been nominated for 11 Grammys and has sold over 50 million records worldwide. 

Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam is one of modern country music’s most influential artists and a longtime ambassador for real country music in the honky-tonk style. Many of Yoakam’s biggest hits, including “Guitars, Cadillacs,” “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere,” “Fast as You,” “Streets of Bakersfield,” “Honky Tonk Man,” and many more.

Yoakam has recorded 22 studio albums and 9 compilation albums, garnered 2 Grammy Awards, 1 Academy of Country Music Award and has placed 24 singles in the Top 10 on the Billboard Country charts. His 1993 release This Time was triple-platinum. 

Southall

Opening the show was Oklahoma’s own Red Dirt country rock band performing their original southern rock, country rock, and Red Dirt music. Featuring the music of Read Southall, performing original songs: “Scared Money”, “Out Alive”, “When You’re Around”, “By Surprise” and more.

Up-and-coming band from the Northeast. Rooted in roots music, this band of young musicians have been releasing well-crafted music over the last few years. Their latest effort is their self-titled record and represents the band's growth as musicians and their ability to blend styles while remaining a cohesive unit of music. 

Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park Information

Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park is conveniently located in the heart of Des Moines at 2251 George Flagg Parkway, Des Moines, IA 50321, in the middle of one of the country’s largest urban parks, a 1,500-acre recreational oasis of riverside woodland, meadows and lakes just west of downtown Des Moines.

Designed to bring live outdoor entertainment to the Des Moines area, featuring seating for up to 10,000 people. General admission lawn seats are set up for each concert, and guests may bring their own blankets and low-back chairs. The venue is also handicapped accessible with walkways throughout the grounds.

During concerts guests can find a variety of foods and beverages at the concession stands throughout the venue. Parking Information

There are multiple onsite parking lots located throughout Water Works Park, very close to the amphitheater. For bicyclists, there are bike paths leading to Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park, and plenty of parking is available within a reasonable distance to assure that you do not have to walk very far. Directions from lots to venue are clearly marked.
